After announcing, then canceling, their iPad contest, IDrive resumed their giveaway, with a few more steps this time to enter.

Basically, you need to be using IDrive – either a new user, or an existing one. Then you have to follow @IDrive_Online on Twitter and tweet that you’re an IDrive user. You can tweet once / day to enter.

Just two days after announcing a huge iPad giveaway, IDrive pulled the plug on their contest early this morning:

The rules to enter the contest were quite simple:

sign up for an IDrive Online Backup account (either a 2GB free account or a paid account), download the IDrive Online Backup software and Login. This will automatically schedule backup of your critical data, which you can customize. You must be 21 years of age and above to be eligible. Proof of age will be required before receiving prizes. ONE ENTRY PER PERSON. US RESIDENTS ONLY.

What doesn’t make sense is how IDrive determined “limited interest” in a contest where the only way to enter was to create an account. Perhaps they didn’t see a dramatic increase in customer sign-ups, like they expected? Or maybe the first two winners didn’t even know they entered a contest when they installed IDrive?

Whatever the case, IDrive throws a number of contests, but this isn’t the first time one of theirs ended ugly. Hopefully they’ve learned a few things, and we’ll see a revised contest from them soon.

IDrive, known for their MacBook Pro and IDrive Portable contests, is now giving away 17 new iPads! That’s one a day from March 15^th through March 31^st. Entering the contest is easy, and free:

You can also enter to win a Macbook by submitting a video… and since nobody won the video contest last time, if you submit anything of quality, you’ll have pretty good odds of winning that Macbook.
