One of the biggest features of an online backup service is the ability to restore a particular version of a file, not just the latest. If you accidentally overwrite a file and don’t realize it until after your backup, the backup is useless. All backups should have an option for version history.
Restoring a previous version of a file with Mozy is easy. First, navigate to the file on your computer and right-click, then choose Restore Previous Version

Next, a screen comes up showing all of the previous versions of the file that’s available for restoration. You’ll see in this example that I’m restoring a file which I update almost daily. You’ll only be able to determine which file to restore if the Date of Backup
column is shown. So, right-click on the column headings and make sure Date of Backup
is checked

Now that you can see the files, scroll to the one you’d like to restore and right-click and choose Restore To
.

The difference between Restore
and Restore To
is that Restore
will restore the file to the location it’s currently in, while Restore To
lets you pick where the file is saved.
Now, Mozy will ask you where you want to save the file to. The Desktop
is often the easiest so you can quickly find the file when it’s done. Then, after you’ve verified this version is the one you want, you can move it to a permanent location, such as My Documents

Almost done! Now, Mozy will locate the file on the server. This may take some time and while you wait, you’ll see a message similar to this one

Once Mozy finds the file, the transfer begins and in a few minutes, you’ll have your file restored.

Now you can check that this is the file that you want, then move it to the original location.
